1985 – NEK founded
NEK founded by Niels Erik and his brother Kalle. Production starts in a private garage.
1987 – NEK moves to a new factory
NEK moves to Kornmarken 17 in a new factory covering 385 m2 of floor space.
1990 – NEK divided up
Niels Erik and Kalle split the company. Niels Erik takes sole control of NEK.
There are 3 employees.
1992 – New expansion
NEK expands again. The factory now has 1200 m2 of floor space.
1995 – NEK now has 20 employees
NEK's workforce reaches 20 employees.
1997 – NEK has growing pains
NEK expands again, bringing the floor space up to 2000 m2.
2000 – NEK reaches 27 employees
NEK's workforce reaches 27 employees.
2002 – NEK expands
NEK expands to 2400 m2 of floor space.
2003 – NEK invests in five-axis Hermle
NEK invests in the first 5-axis Hermle milling machine.
2003 – NEK at the HI trade fair
NEK exhibits at the Hi trade fair.
2005 – NEK reaches 45 employees
NEK's workforce reaches 45 employees at the factory in Billund.
2009 – First robot for NEK
NEK invests in its first robot for its inserts and electrodes production cell.
2010 – NEK expands, building a new production hall
NEK expands by building a new production hall. The floor space is now 3200 m2.
2010 – Investment in Heller milling machines
The first of two 4-5 axis milling machines from Heller arrive in December.
The machines are part of a large new robot-operated production cell with 21 pallets.
2015 – Another new production hall added
NEK expands by building a new production hall. The floor space is now 4700 m2.
2015 – 30th anniversary
NEK celebrates its 30th anniversary. Celebrated with a reception to showcase the new production extension.
2021 – NEK ApS gets a new owner
With effect from 9 August 2021, investor group FPE Group takes over ownership of NEK ApS.
